Hiked the PCT with our dog down past Dewey lake to Anderson Lake and a bit past that to see a view of Mt Rainier. About 12mi round trip.
Fall colors are popping and the lakes are gorgeous. Not many people on the trail once you drop down on the Dewey Lake Trail. Very dusty trail right now.
Note: we followed our “Best Hikes With Dogs” guidebook which indicated the west side of the Naches Peak Loop was dog friendly (indicating it was the PCT), but upon our return up from Dewey Lake we saw signs indicating that the PCT and this the dog-friendly portion of the loop trail is actually the east side (Yakima side) of the loop. We didn’t see any signage at the beginning of the trail stating no dogs - so just a heads up to avoid a fine. Park at the pass and hike the eastern portion of the naches peak loop which is the PCT if you have a dog. Dogs are only allowed to hike in MRNP on the PCT.
