Beautiful snow hike. Started off at Kachess Snow-Park at around 12.30pm. The roads were covered with snow and ice but if you have an AWD and stay within 25 mph, driving should be safe.
It was a beautiful sunny day but it had snowed for 3 days prior to that, hence there was plenty of snow to hike on.
The route taken is Forest road 49 to the Kachess Campground
The hiking/snowshoe route i.e. Forest route 49 is well traveled by snow-mobilers. As this is a shared pathway, you would need to be on the look-out for snowmobilers (get to one side when you hear them).
The scenery along the Kachess lake was absolutely picturesque. Until the campground, the hike could be done potentially with snow boots and microspikes but beyond that, snowshoes would be necessary. Within snowshoes, I found myself sinking to the knee level.
We saw just 3 groups of other hikers/ snowshoers on the way; looks like it's more popular with snowmibilers. I would highly recommend this hike if you are looking for a fun hike, beginner level refreshing hike, or a hike with the family. It's about 5 miles within just a 400ft elevation gain.
