Beautiful day on Mt. Walker. Took the 2.25-mile trail up and put spikes on about 1.5 miles in. Stopped at the north viewpoint, then tramped the .5 miles to the sunny (on the day we were there) south viewpoint where the benches overlook the Hood Canal with Mt. Ranier in the background. Took the 4-mile road down and found the track through the snow rather narrow and hard to walk through. Snow lasted until we were about 1.5 miles from the TH. In retrospect, we wish we had taken the trail back down, despite what that 20% grade would have done to our knees.
