I was looking for a new lowland trail this week and was delighted to discover the Whitehorse trail on CalTopo and WTA! We walked just over 6 miles starting at the Trafton trailhead. First, we walked about 3/4 mile southwest to the signed closure (at the far side of the Stillaguamish River bridge). Then, we went back to the trailhead and did a couple miles in the other direction as well. We also briefly explored an area signed for public WDFW access near the junction with 127th Ave NE - you can get right down to the river here and looks like it would be great wandering on the river banks when the water is lower. There were nice views of the river and surrounding farmland as you walk the trail, and lots of birds.
We saw one jogger the whole time we were out so it's a good place to come for solitude. Trailhead parking was empty when we arrived around 11am, two other cars when we left around 2pm. There is a portapotty at the trailhead. The trail itself is a level, packed gravel trail that would be suitable for wheeled travel if you have thicker tires than a road bike. Virtually no elevation gain except the small slope down to the trail from the parking lot, and no obstacles like roots or ruts, so it is much more accessible than most hiking trails. We're definitely bringing our bikes next time to explore farther. There's also a picnic table at the trailhead if you walk down to the trail.
