What a beautiful day for a hike! Blue skies and sunshine; I was very happy to get out on the trail.
The road to the trailhead was clear and dry. The roadwalk to the trailhead from the Hummocks Trail parking lot had bare spots to walk on, making it an easy trek.
I was surprised to find so many bare spots in the snow. I used my microspikes on the trail until I got up on the ridge in the open. I had carried snowshoes, so I put them on, but there were plenty of boot tracks that showed you could get by without them. The snow conditions were perfect.
I didn't do the loop around the lake, but looking at the trail from above there appears to be minimal snow along the shoreline.
