Yost Park, Southwest County Park — Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023

Today the hiking grandmas did the Grand Edmonds Park tour. Actually this grandma injured her neck and shoulder and couldn't use hiking poles, so that is a bit limiting, along with the weather, for explorations in more hilly terrain. We started at the Park and Ride by the train tracks, walked down to the ferry terminal to use the restroom there and headed up the hill on Main Street, R on 5th and then up Walnut, (gotta get a hill in!) to Yost Park. Unfortunately, the main trail in Yost had a bridge out and was closed, so we hiked an alternative route out to Main again. Following this road, we ended up at another little park called Pine Ridge, where the trail took us by a little pond with some pretty tame mallards and Canada geese. Thru Pine Ridge, down 83rd to 200th, then down 80th to the next park, Sierra, but no loo, so we moved on along. We stopped at Seaview for a rest stop, and then on to Southwest County Park. We just hiked thru a little bit of it, it was starting to rain, and we were getting hungry. Even tho this was close to the road, it was a pleasant walk thru woods. Now on the way back, we walked down Olympic View Dr for our last little stop at Stamm Overlook. Not much to see except a big dark grey wall of raincloud coming over the water. We went back via Soundview Dr and had the best views of the day, it had somewhat cleared off and there was some blue sky. We ended back at Bracketts Landing and ate lunch at the Senior Center. We had planned on walking along the marsh too, but walking on cement is very hard on my feet, so this grandma was done for the day. 9 miles total, urban walks can get you in shape for hiking!
