Trail was coated with hard-packed ice, so having spikes was helpful. We looked at the creek crossing, but water was flowing fast and deep. The only "log" going across was a rather skinny branch which probably wouldn't have held my weight. Instead of crossing, we continued farther up along the left side of the creek. There's a small boulder field to cross, and then the trail becomes rather indeterminate. Shorter hike than planned, but still beautiful on a clear sunny day.
