I enjoyed a meandering hike on the snow-free Tradition Plateau. There are signs of spring: the beginning of salmon berry buds, oso-berry (Oemleria cerasiformis) buds that are just about to bloom (in years past, this has been the first flower I have seen on Tiger), and lots of tiny plants popping out. On February 11th on the Trillium bridge, I heard 3 male Pacific wrens singing for territory and mates, but with the cold snap, I haven't heard one since.
There are always visually compelling mosses, lichens, and "fall" colors on Tiger Mt. It was fun playing around with a new macro lens for my phone camera. I'm (mostly) patiently waiting for warmth and wildflowers. The video is a slideshow with a few additional photos.

Stunning results with your new macro lens. Which one did you get?

Thanks, I got a 10x APEXEL ($37). I had to take a lot of photos to get some results I liked. It is a small field of focus and you have to move the phone up and down and hope a little. I think this 10x will be good for small flowers, I hope to test that soon. I just got a 15x Xenvo ($37) that I think will be a little better with mosses and other really small objects. I'll keep you posted.

The xenvo 15x is similar to the apexel 10x. With the apexel I am able to get a larger area of focus. I will be using the xenvo 15x for mosses, lichen, tiny things. And use the apexel 10x for small flowers where I want a larger area in focus. With both it is a little painy to get the desired object in focus (my phone, Samsung S21, might be contributing to this). The xenvo 15x comes with a little clip-on, usb rechargeable light that I think will be very useful.
