I hiked the north loop at Fishtrap Lake, which is just under 5 miles and easy-going. Mostly flat with just a few uphill parts. The trail was snow free, but muddy and with standing water in a few spots. But it was easy to get around those. The trail has not much tree cover which is fine this early in the year, but I'm sure it gets hellishly hot there in the summer. The trail is a lollipop loop and there are some side trails which can be confusing. There are plenty of trail markers, but it's still important to pay attention to the direction you want to go. Part of the trail (about 2 miles) goes close to the lake, although not directly at the lake, but above along the cliffs. There are some very nice views of the lake along this part of the trail. This whole area is geologically very interesting having been part of the ice age floods flow, so there are cool cliffs, depressions, Mima mounds and a bunch of smaller lakes along the trail after it climbs up to the plateau. I want to go back later in the spring to check for wildflowers and hike the south loop.
Access is very easy to find, there is a good size parking lot at the trailhead. No bathroom facilities I could find, I assume they will have some later in the year when the boating and water sports start.
