Visited the ocean beaches this weekend and as always, they are a gem. Took a long walk along Kalaloch and Ruby beaches. In fact, we timed our visit to Ruby Beach with the low tide and saw some beautiful sea creatures (star fish, sea anemones, sea urchins, crabs). A word of advice: When exploring tidepools/low tides, please never remove animals, shells, or rocks. (This also means to leave sand dollars where they are. By the way, these are related to sea urchins). Only observe sea creatures and never pick them up even if your intention is to put them back. Walk carefully and gently so you won't step on any animals, and never turn over rocks. I am mentioning all this as I have seen all on multiple outings to the coast. Still a lot of fun to be had without doing any of the above. We also stayed at the Kalaloch Campground, currently still on a first come first served basis. Parking lots to both beaches are easily accessible. In fact, Ruby Beach's parking lot has seen some improvements (more parking, no potholes). Happy hiking!
