What do you when your initial plan is cancelled. Come up with a Plan B. BSA Venture Crew was suppose to have a backpacking trip on the coast at Toleak Peak to First Beach. Due to the high wind advisory we changed our plans last minute and went for a 9 mile hike around the Green Mtn area instead.

Started at Gold Creek to Vista and summited. Then down part of Wildcat to GM-17, down to GM-4 to GM-46 to take the Tin-Mine trail, and loop back into Gold Creek.

Some geocaching along the way, despite mutiny from the Crew because they didn’t want to Geocache, just hike. You would have thought I was making them do something horrible.

Overall, the trail was ok. Very muddy and large puddles of water. It didn’t stop raining on us the whole day. Despite our rain gear, we returned to the van soak. The Crew did say they would like to come back again, hopefully in better weather.

Ups n Downs on Green Mountain - Wildcat Trail

I recently added geocaching to our family hikes, the nine year old likes it and the sixteen year old tolerates it. But I think they both secretly really enjoy it. Good job pushing them to do it.
