I got on the ferry at Fielding Point (plenty of parking, $7/night) & joined heaps of other backpackers who disembarked at Prince creek heading north. The east side of the lake had high altitude snow & the west side was somewhat covered in snowfilled clouds (the snow storm I had driven through coming from Seattle that morning). The boat ride was windy (white caps dancing all over the waters). The warmth of the protected cove & the initial climb out of the prince creek basin quickly lead to layers off & the pack train dispersing. The wildflower proliferation was quickly evident and the endless vistas in all directions kept my jaw dragging on the trail for much of this trip. I camped at meadows creek (with many others) & got lucky on my second night at flick creek. I didn't see any rattlesnakes (I'm sure the cold spell immediately prior to my trip kept them away) - nor any ticks. There were plenty of humans on the trial - but as the day progressed I had long spells of solitude. There is minimal shade on this trail - so was grateful for sun protection. This is a trail I'll surely repeat. for more pics: IG @janettepowell
