Selah Butte — Sunday, Apr. 30, 2023

We arrived about 10:30AM on Sunday, and there were 3 vehicles in the lot.  One of them, an older sedan was blocking most of the remaining parking.   We squeezed in on the road spur the starts the trail and noticed that the sedan had an occupant.   He waited around for a few minutes, while we laced up for the trail, and then he left.  I moved my Prius to a regular spot. 

It was a really nice hike on a sunny day with my buddy Josh. We met one fellow near the trail head returning to his truck, and passed another couple on their way up. We had excellent views up and down the canyon almost the entire way.  The trail is steep in places that creates some difficulty on descent, but totally manageable with careful foot placement.   

All was great until we got back to the trail head.  There was only my Prius, but there was a big pile of glass where one of the cars had been.  And, of course, the driver window on my Prius had been smashed out.  There wasn't much of value in the two bags taken--microspikes, cell phone charger, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, ratty old sneakers, etc.  Josh and I speculate that the Sedan's occupant was about to hit the other two cars that were already there when we arrived.  The guy we met returning to the trail head probably got back to his vehicle and left before the other two cars were burgled.

I-90 is really loud with a missing driver's window.
