Pleasant forest hike until 4300ft where snow starts taking over the trail completely. I was glad to have microspikes. The meadow is fully covered in snow that, by 8am, was softened up.
Hiked up to the ridge that's south of the peak for awesome views of Baker, Shuksan, and the surrounding ranges. Top of Excelsior peak is snow free.
Was glad to have my ice axe on approach. Snow was a certain mashed potato quality.
