Marten Lake — Thursday, May. 25, 2023

Four of us hiked to Marten Lake as part of an Otter Falls/Big Falls day hike. about 13 mis in all. Trail to lake is snow free except for a few patches in the last several hundred yards to the lake. Campsite at lake is snow free. Lake frozen except near shore. Trail is rough, steep, hard to follow in a few places where trees have fallen across and work around trails are less obvious. Basically a climbers/fisherman's trail with some trail tape, some log cuts, brush cuts. We climbed up steadily, with few short rests in 1 hour 45 mins to the lake from Snoq River Trail. Older party, no speed records.
