Today was a gem! We started from the eight mile lake lake trailhead and ran the road to Fourth of July Trailhead. Connected with the Icicle Ridge Trail and ran that back into town in Leavenworth. 21ish miles with 5800 and it took us around 4.5 hours. We used bug spray and sun cream and I recommend both.
Fourth of July Trail - incredible views, a bit overgrown in places especially closer to the top, no snow on this trail. Snow starts right at the connection of the Icicle Ridge Trail. A bear and a rattlesnake on the way up, as well as beautiful flowers! Plenty of places to filter water, too!
Icicle Ridge from Fourth of July to Leavenworth - Pretty snowy above 6k with patches of dry to find the trail. It's all mostly in flat areas so nothing scary. Wasnt much of a problem for us. It was soft around 1p when we got up there but still could run or hike on it. Loads of water sources on the way down. Another rattlesnake scared the crap out of us on the way down but I lived to right the trip report.
Icicle Ridge isn't too bad but there are a lot of trees and it's a bit overgrown, too. We knew it wouldn't be perfect so it didn't bother us.
