We arrived to the trailhead just after 2pm to see evidence of a busy morning with a long line of cars parked along the last .5 mile leading up to the trailhead. Luckily by the time we got there, many people were ending their hike and there was plenty of parking right up next to the trailhead parking (which is small and only fits about 15 cars).
We did this as a trail run and made it up to the top north end of Olallie lake within 1.25 hours. There were several groups on the trail, many with lovely leashed dogs! We are able to find a nice secluded spot for a brief snack and view of Olallie lake before making the run back down. With a quick stop at Talapus, we made it back to the trailhead in about 45 minutes.
There was a little bit of snow once you were approaching Talapus, and a few more small snow patches and mud getting up to Olallie. Nothing too difficult that would require any extra gear beyond some grippy shoes.
Overall it was a beautiful day and the perfect temperature in the shade for a run up and down the mountain!
