Started the hike at 7am with 6 cars in the lot. By 10 am, the lot was overflowing. it's a popular trail, and it doesn't help that nearby trails are closed. It's 6 miles rt to/from the lake. There is a good 1 to 1.5 mile of a pure rock path. closer to the lake, there is some snow on the path, and the lake is still (mostly) ice over. The trail around the lake is covered in snow. ... Overall, great hike if you are an avid hiker and/or in shape. Many people did not make it to the lake. Have fun!
