Arrived on a Sunday at 8:30 am to a very crowded parking lot. Had to park about 0.5 miles from trailhead. Park rangers there directing parking and making sure passes are on display.
Wore waterproof shoes in case of snow patches but would have been fine in trail runners. I don't remember much (any?) water on the trail after the first mile or so grab water there if needed. Went about 0.2 miles further after the summit of Little Bandera but as others have said the route is hard to find, over grown, and has snow patches so didn't force it today. Amazing views over the low cloud cover today.
Lots of dogs on the trail (mostly unleashed) and multiple bags of dog poop left behind :( Trail was quite crowded on the way down. I wish my schedule allowed hiking during the week, but it is what it is!
