Do not do this hike. If you’re adventurous and want to do a close day hike like me, skip this and do red mountain for the 12th time. Maybe as an overnight or two if you really like fishing. Only plus was the dog got to be off leash most of the day, past the creek crossing. I’m pretty sure it’s allowed most trails east of the pass.
if you do choose to do this hike, ignore the stats and give yourself lots of time. I’m no runner but I’m pretty fast. Some examples are mailbox peak in 4 hours, Navaho peak in 6, this beast took me 8.

I did this as a loop several years ago. Out on the PCT, scrambled down to Joe Lake, then out via Gold Creek trail. Joe Lake trail from the lake to the junction with Alaska Lake trail was an overgrown mess. Crossing Gold Creek ... yeah, no bridge.

How was the scramble down? I considered it when looking at it from the lake, not seriously tho because of my car
