Pretty awesome day. The summit was windy but otherwise, most of the hike in was VERY HOT. Most of the other reports have added all the details. A few other things-
- Rocks are starting to show up in the glissade chute at pikers peak. Be wary of that. Still pretty epic glissading! 2000ft from Pikers Peak to lunch counter in just over 15 min.
- The morrison creek glissade chutes are a great way to skip another 500ish feet of brutal decent. There's one huge exposed rock near the top though.
- There's a stream flowing from snowmelt near the last couple campsites at lunch counter ~9300ft. Can fill a water bottle in about 5 seconds.
- I saw at least 10-15 deer around the camp and on my drive out. Some just jumping in front of my car and starting at me. Drive carefully, I guess?
It was pretty insane watching the tunnel fire in the gorge!
LOST & FOUND: I lost my katadyn befree water filter somewhere after the creek crossing and before the snowfield. If someone found it, lmk!
I also found someone's Nikon lens cap in the glissade chute up at pikers peak.
