I arrived at the Homestead Valley parking area around 10:30. Just a few cars in the lot. I only saw six people on the hike - sparsely trafficked on a weekday.
The landscape was cloaked in a thin layer of haze on Mt. Washington from the wildfire smoke but I didn't feel any effects and views cleared up as I looped around to tag Change Peak. Change Peak has views but they're no better than what you get on the service road that takes you to the peaks cutoff trail.
I lost the trail while crossing a talus field on the way up to Change Peak but was able to pick it up again with a downloaded route on my phone. Definitely recommend having some kind of map if you're going to hike around this trail system.
