The road to the lower parking area is a dirt road with a lot of dust right now, but completely passable for any vehicle. The road to the upper trailhead was vritually impassable, though there was one Jeep parked at the top. It was a hot Sunday, and given how dry it has been, the creek crossings were pretty minimal. Still a little water in some of them for my dog to play around in, but not much. The big creek crossing between the trailhead and Cottonwood has a large log across it, and people have obviously used it as a bridge some, but if you duck under the log it is really easy to cross the creek there.
We stopped at Cottonwood on the way up and the way down for the dog to jump in and cool off. It is pretty and there were no other people at the lake both times. When we got to Mirror Lake we made our way down the shoreline, and first went down past the lake to the falls. There is a good view of Yakima Pass and Meadow Mountain, and the falls were running so low we could climb down on them and again the dog jumped in the water and played around a bit (it was hot!). We went up to the lake, and on the beach there was a big group of people enjoying the day. We saw a couple PCT hikers as well.
Bugs weren't too bad during the middle of the day, but there were some present.
