I went up Suksdorf Climb route and came down the South Climb route. There is no clear trail up Suksdorf like the South Climb route and you will have to rely on maps and route finding skills. There is also less snow overall on this route.
Camped at Lunch Counter with lots of neighbors. Water is scarce. A few groups were filtering sand from the water flowing close to the ground. Another group found a tiny trickle close to the snow line near Pikers Peak. (See attached picture). A small cup will be helpful in scooping water from the low stream. Here the water is clear enough that a Steripen treatment will suffice.
Started next morning around 5:30 and summited close to 10am. I used micro-spikes and was comfortable. The views at the top were fabulous. You could see all the major mountains to the north and south.
The glissade chute at the top of Piker's peak is deep, steep and icy in portions and you have to proceed slowly. The second glissade that brings you to lunch counter and another glissade at the bottom of Crescent Glacier are a lot more fun. I must have glissaded at least 2500 to 3000 feet down.
Made the long trudge back to trail head around 3:30pm. The last mile feels twice as long.
