Driving up in That Prius, I made it to within .5 mi of the trailhead before deciding to park at a pullout - however I noticed a Corolla with less clearance than me went as far as the main parking area. The road does have some significant ruts and potholes, so I’d say attempt this in a regular car only if you’re experienced driving on questionable forest roads.
The PCT section of the trail is in great shape. As noted earlier, look for a pyramid cairn of rocks to mark the turnoff. A few false turnoffs and side trails, so a map or track could be useful. There’s a stretch of talus slope before the false summit, and a few places where you might want to use your hands for some minor scrambling, but I wouldn’t say the trail is particularly technical.
Great 360 views at the top, bugs are pretty bad at the moment up there unfortunately.
