Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Heybrook Lookout by hikerjanaj

We arrived late afternoon about 3:30 pm & the temps were in the low 90’s. There were only about 6 cars at the trail head which is located right off of Hwy 2 and can easily be missed. The trail starts off right along the Hwy and eventually winds it’s way back into the forest. The trail is well maintained w/numerous elevated tree roots and step-ups along the trail. The trail itself continues w/switch backs to reach the top. Thankfully the trail is fully covered along the way w/trees so you are never exposed to the direct sunlight or we would’ve been miserable w/the extreme heat. We reached the top in just under 50 minutes as we stopped plenty of times to wipe the excessive sweat from our bodies. Once you reach the top you climb up the lookout tower to see the beautiful view of Mt Si and many other Mtn tops. The highest level of the lookout can be rented out for an overnight stay and provides a wonderful experience. We enjoyed our lunch & headed back down the trail. If you don’t enjoy the stair master this isn’t the trail for you. However if you’re willing to do a little workout your view is a reward. Enjoy the trail & remember life is an adventure that YOU create. Safe travels
