Central Cascades > Leavenworth Area
Icicle Ridge by Tyler Hartje

When one is in Leavenworth, one does Leaven-worthy things, like going hiking! If you’re looking for something close to town (5 minutes away!), that you can do before the hotel checkout time, this is the hike for you. The trail was easy hiking - not too rocky or rooty. It was, however, quite steep. You’re gaining 1600 feet of elevation in about two and a half miles, the first part being a gentler grade.

Start early before it gets hot. I’d say about half the trail was party shaded, so its easy to find a spot to cool down. One thing to note - the parking lot is very easy to miss from the road, be on the lookout for some paper signs indicating where the trailhead is or is not.

Wonderful views of Leavenworth and Tumwater Canyon from the top. Eagle-eyed hikers can even see the Tumwater bridge, another great spot to checkout along the highway heading west.
