(using snowshoe title since no listing for the “rest of year” route :)
Road - directions are spot on. Drive 3.8 miles off the highway to the two big close trees, just to right of road. One of the trees has an orange diamond flash but you can’t really see it until you pass it.
Trail - various posts and books describe the trail as a faint spur but jeep activity (which can easily, and do, drive to summit) has the spur looking like the main road. Just go right :)
Dusty and hot all the way but never too steep, and gaining sight of the lookout at the bend .4 miles in motivates.
As you can see the tower is accessible with a couple of the shutters broken as well. Removed two dead birds who had nested in one of the cupboard drawers and tried to secure it well upon departure. Cool to see there is still a very very small little charred spot remaining after the rest of the damaged wood was replaced. Got smoky but varying wind had me uncertain if it was from the 2 fires E and NE or the one at Sourdough to the WNW. Bugs finally caught on so I left after some contemplating and journaling.
