Heliotrope Ridge — Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

Parked about a mile before the road closure due to the washout on the road, and rode bikes up to the trailhead. Trail itself in good condition, with 3 notable stream crossings. The first one has a log placed a bit up the waterfall that makes it passable in boots. The second crossing is fine in boots. The third crossing, closest to glacier, was high and fast, and even with sandals and trekking poles, we were too nervous to cross. Instead we backtracked to the climbers trail that led up to hogsback camp and had our lunch with a view along that climbers trail. Bugs were a nuisance, flies and mosquitoes. Beautiful trail that provides solitude because of the washout on the road! Highly recommend biking up the road!
