Trip Report

Thornton Lakes and Trappers Peak — Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

Road: Road is quite bumpy although no truly deep potholes. Should have no problem with a SUV, especially a 4WD/AWD one. Saw a sedan made to the trailhead as well.

Trail: Overall in good condition. A few short sections are wet and muddy. Waterproof boots recommended. For the scrambling to the peak, there are one or two short class 3 sections and some class 2s. It may take some time but they are not exactly difficult. For the last 200 feet or so there is a beaten trail which makes it easy to summit.

Bugs: Continuous along the trail except for at the top. Insect repellent required.
