Road has a few holes, but I was never really concerned with bottoming out (08 forester). Tall vehicles might not make it under one overhanging tree, though. Scrapes from shrubs unavoidable.
Trail includes a fair climb, pleasant stroll through a few meadows at the top, then steep (though short) descent. Lake is very nice, with blue berries fairly common. A few flowers, but not many.
No one else at the trailhead at 9, two others at 1.
