The road: the road to Hart’s Pass isn’t as scary as I have heard - they must have done some great work on it. It’s a slow, bumpy drive, but no problem in my Crosstrek. The road to the trailhead once you turn left though, that one is very bumpy. Especially going up the hill after passing Meadows Campground. I wondered if I would make it, but I did, with no problems.

The trail is beautiful - some reds coming out in the foliage. There are so many larches - it would be fun to come back when they’ve turned.

The one thing to know right now is that you can’t escape the sun! There is no shade and I was running toward it or away from it the whole time. I was glad to have my sun shirt by the return.
I’d gotten a late start and wanted to beat the heat advisory so I only ran to just past Tatie Peak. Didn’t go up because I was alone with very few people on the trail, so I played it safe. Even going just that distance there are several little passes to get views from - a lot of fun, and I’d come back to do more of it in a different season!

When these are gold it’ll be even more stunning!
Hit some traffic on the way to Hart’s Pass 😂⛰️🐐

You are correct. The trail is even more spectacular in the fall. This is my favorite fall/larch hike in the state!
