This is a beautiful area but wow, I was amazed and hugely saddened by the number of groups camping on grass. There were people camping right by the lakes on grass; people camping up higher, by a tarn on the way to Tomyhoi, on wildflowers! I would say there were at least 15 groups camping and about half were on meadow. Plus the evidence of campfires, the people not paying attention to their dogs chasing marmots. Call me the camping grinch I guess….
There are a very limited number of dirt campsites, even less with any privacy (trees for bear lines, etc.) so it’s best to arrive early. Or bring a freestanding tent and head up to the rocks, plenty of space.
