Decided to make the stop on the way home from hiking various Oregon Columbia River Gorge trails yesterday!
Not for those with a fear of heights or major challenges with uneven terrain! The steps to the top were steep (probably 1ft tall each), and the top was the rock itself (so highly uneven/hard to safely share with other hikers)! We got to the top, caught our breath/admired the view, but as soon as another group showed up we felt it was best to turn around so they could enjoy the view as well.
This trail was spectacular! It is all switchbacks until the top, then you turn around and do it all again... but each time I noticed different things. My party was myself and another hiker, who used a hiking pole- she said it helped a lot on the trail for her to keep her balance on the uneven terrain! I won't say its easy, or its hard... we had to take a few stops to catch our breath, but mostly to stop and soak in the views!
A kids lacrosse team was completing the hike to take a team photo at the top, and half of them (these are tweens or younger) ran up AND down the trail. Luckily I didn't see any kids wipe out, but they were able to complete the hike in less than an hour - probably around 45 minutes!
