We went during a very bright afternoon on Labor Day Weekend and it was very crowded. Parking lot and surrounding area was filled with cars. The hike was a steady downhill on compacted dirt that transitions to fairly narrow boardwalk. It was short and easy, taking less than 45 minutes (including time to take photos). We also saw porpoises swimming out in the water.
