I hiked the Silver Star Trail on the afternoon of September 6, 2023. Beautiful views of Mount Hood. Mount Saint Helens and Mount Adams were obscured by the clouds, but somewhat visible. I couldn't see Mount Rainier at all. As others have noted the trail is in great shape, but is covered in rocks so I'm glad I wore hiking boots and not running shoes. I also used trekking poles which at age 63 helps with your balance.
