Nothing like the opening day of the Seahawks season to get out on a popular trail and have it be very quiet. We arrived around 1:30 to hike the loop up to Coal Creek Falls via Cave Hole trail, and then return back through Quarry and Red Town. Cave Hole Trail and Red Town were beautiful wide roads through the forest, perfect for a nice stroll. The connecting trail across through Coal Creek Falls Trail and Quarry Trail was more single dirt paths. But, everything was in a nice dry condition for the paths, with easy exploration for a young child hiking along. The falls themselves were dry other than a small trickle, but a great spot to rest in the shaded trees for a picnic.
On the loop back, the trail goes along a wall of rocks to the right with some discarded boulders. It was a fun area for my son to explore walking in and around some big rocks.
