Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Close Addition Beach at High Tide

Post-work hill repeats on the Close Addition Hill in Gazzam.

The Springridge, Close Addition, and Westwood Shore trails are in fine, early-fall condition. The slight sprinkling of rain overnight tamped down a little bit of the trail dust, but I still managed to have dirty socks and toes when I got back home. Otherwise, the paths and trails are open, clear, and inviting. The morning was high overcast, and the light was soft. About 10:00AM a little sun allowed me to briefly see my shadow.

I entered via the Springridge trailhead, and took the Close Addition down to the beach. Other than the paved Toe Jam Hill on the south end of Bainbridge Island, the Close Addition Hill is about the best spot on the island to work in an accumulated elevation gain. I did 5 laps for a 2,100' gain.

Saw a few neighbors, but as it was a weekday morning, not a lot of peeps out there.

Quick Summary
Parking: I walked from the house. Park at the Marshall Rd trailhead if you're motoring.
Toilet
: There's a new pit toilet just west of the Marshall Rd. parking lot.
Trail Conditions: Beautimus! The trees and ocean smell really good out there. Parks made some drainage improvements last spring; very nice.
Weather: Calm, overcast, ocean was glass.
Wildlife
: Saw 2 seals, and 2 squirrels (or maybe the same one twice)! There were some birdies, but I didn't really watch them closely.
Humans: Saw just a few people w/ good doggies.
