This hike is a little out of the way compared to others along the I-90 corridor, but it's so worth it. Beautiful forest walk with fall colors on full display, and then you break out into the big views in every direction, with some rock scrambling to keep things interesting.
Arrived at the trailhead around 9:30, was surprised to find it fairly crowded, maybe 20 cars with more arriving. But everyone spread out on the trail, it never felt crowded.
The road has lots of washboards and is rougher in the last half mile but I think it'd be doable in any vehicle. I'd suggest parking about .2 before the trailhead, the road after that is much rougher and the brush is crowding the road more than it used to so it gets pretty tight up ahead.
I did bring my dog, planning to turn around if the last part seemed too much for him, but he did great, although he did give me a few WTF looks. Thankful we all made it down with no twisted ankles or worse.
