This might be the biggest bangs for your buck. Not far from Tacoma, not a long hike (though entirely uphill),all for the jaw dropping views.
Following WTA directions were great (don’t trust the GPS) and the roads were a little rough but was still going between 25-30 mph in a ford escape. No trail markings but the directions to take the narrower trail were correct (see photo). Still some fall foliage out and looks like it will stay for another week or so. Very clear evening and could see all the way down to Mt. Hood. Stayed for the sunset and had no issues coming back in the dark. Trail is unmarked and narrow but I did not have to put it any effort to stay on it. A lovely group of people about 12 people stayed for the sunset.
