We did an overnight and stayed at shelter rock camp so we could ditch the heavy packs and continue up to the pass for the day. We were the only group at Shelter Rock Camp for the night.
The road was really rough close to the trailhead. Go slow and it’ll be ok. Plenty of parking available Saturday morning and the pit toilet was in good condition.
Like others have said, be sure to get water at Camp Mystery before heading to the pass as there’s no water past that point.
Camp Mystery was busier than Shelter Rocks but there seemed to still be plenty of spots around.
