For years, Granite Mountain has been on my bucket list. I decided to take day off from work and get it checked off before winter season begins. I arrived 9-ish in the morning. The only car in the parking lot was mine.
Mind you, this is a tougher trail. The climb began almost immediately. And, it didn’t stop until reaching the top.
Right at about 4100 ft, traces of snow were visible. Of course, more snow on the ground as I ascended further. At some point, I had to break out my hiking pole to be more sure-footed.
The views, all worth it. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
On descend, I wished I had brought along micro-spikes. It was my fault, as somehow I convinced myself to leave them in the car.
I reached the parking lot around 2:45 PM. Overall it took me approx 5 1/2 hours roundtrip, with plenty of stops to catch my breath.
