Baker River — Friday, Nov. 10, 2023

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Baker River

A great walk in the woods!

Road: Any car can make it here. The parking lot is huge and has picnic tables. The privy is average.

Trail: Very easy to navigate. I would certainly recommend taking the small detour to walk across the bridge over the Baker River at the East Bank Trail junction. If you go another 100 yards you'll cross another pretty bridge.

The trail terminates at Sulphide Camp in the National Park Boundry (which is just one campsite with a fire ring and small privy). The camp is next to a creek which is a nice lunch spot.

The trail itself meanders through old growth forest, deciduous trees, and views of the Baker River Valley. A lovely spot for a stroll year round.

*The only difficult spot on the trail was about .25 mile before the boundary where you have a bigger creek crossing. There is an old log bridge that has since fallen down. Follow flagging tape across the creek and then head towards Baker River to regain the trail.
