Hiked almost to the lakes. Lots of snow. Soft and heavy. Snowshoes were necessary after the first mile. Post holing. After a mile and a half I had to break trail. You’re welcome, future snowshoers. Hard work. The snow was wet and heavy and not frozen. Lots of sinking. We only saw one person, who was returning, because her snowshoe broke. Got to the turn off towards the first lake and I attempted to snowshoe towards it. I was sinking to my waist, so gave up. Beautiful adventure, with sun and sparkly snow
