Hiked up to Harrison Lake today - which, unlike the rest of Quilcene, was borderline sunny! I would echo all of the statements in previous posts except to say the snow currently starts maybe 0.5 miles before the lake at around 4000' but does not get soft/consistent (few inch cover) until very close to the lake. We decided to turn back before continuing on to Valhalla as cloud cover was beginning to shroud the ridgeline and we only had non-GoreTex trail runners that were definitely going to get soggy on the way up. We decided to use microspikes on the way down due to some slippery snow on the descending switchbacks - but it still might be ok without them. All in all a great trail and will be back for Valhalla!
