Liberty Lake Regional Park - Liberty Lake Loop Trail — Monday, Jan. 15, 2024

Liberty Lake Waterfall by LucilleHikes

Hiked Liberty Lake Loop trail clockwise today. The trail was mostly clear of ice and snow up to the Cedar Grove. The switchbacks following the grove were covered in crunchy snow and were easy to walk up, requiring no ice cleats. Snow deepened as you near the waterfall, I choose to wear my gaiters. Soon after the falls the trail has been minimally used and we followed a few footprints in the snow until reaching the junction with the old road. Here there were many (presumably) elk tracks marring the trail. Once you hit the downward slope it is quite slick and ice cleats came in handy. Was nice to get outside as it’s above zero degrees out again!
