Trip Report

Annette Lake, Silver Peak — Thursday, Mar. 7, 2024

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

Two cars in the lot at 2:30 pm, only passed one couple on trail. This was my first time on Annette Lake Trail and I really enjoyed it. It goes through some nice forest with some stout old trees towards the bottom. There is a nice packed down slick bootpath all the way. It's a bit narrow along the steeper slopes.

I thought I'd try to get up to silver peak. I was hesitant to do so and was enjoying the nicely packed trail. It probably would have been better to get off trail at the top of the first set of switchbacks. It was very steep heading up to the ridge. Quite difficult with the deep powder.

The ridgeline was not a great place to bring this dog and it had me worried. He did great though. I turned around where it seemed much too dangerous to even attempt with the dog. Not sure it would have been doable without him in these snow conditions either.

I regretted not dropping off the ridge into the big bowl on the north side of Silver. I could clearly see skin tracks and signs of skiing down there. I think we could have summitted before sunset if I hadn't decided to continue up the gnarly ridge. Oh well, had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the views up there. No wind whatsoever.

Ran and slid down generally aiming towards Annette Lake. That was fun. Passed the obvious avalanche chute slopes and tried to stay in the trees as much as possible. Annette is a nice little lake. Had a slippery run down. Wore my snowshoes at all times off trail. Boring report for an exciting hike.

Maddy on Annette Lake, Silver Peak

The view from the ridge north of Silver has a great view. Thanks for sharing the gps. I agree that this ridge is very steep and probably not the best winter route. Most people who summit Silver from Annette Lake ascend to the saddle south of Silver and go up the south ridge. You'd probably find that to be safer.

Thanks for the comment Maddy. I've seen that route on Peakbagger too. May give it a go soon.
