Grabbed a blue-bird day, a friend and her dog and headed for Blewett Pass. The road was clear and snow-free. After parking on the west side of 97, we debated on spikes vs snowshoes -and decided to skip the snowshoes. It worked out great. The trail is well packed and easily do-able with only traction. Stepping off-trail was a different story. The views were amazing, from Mt Stewart into the N. Cascades. The viewpoint to the South yielded Mt Rainier and Mt Adams. We called it a 4 volcano day - with Glacier to the north and a possible Mt St Helens to the south. On a sunny Thursday, we saw only 3 other groups of hikers/skiers. Snow probably not great for the skiers - and this weekend likely has more snow on the way.
