Trip Report

White Bluffs - South Slope — Saturday, Mar. 16, 2024

Central Washington > Tri-Cities

It was a beautiful Saturday and as such the trail was a little busy today.  By that I mean there were 3 other cars parked when I got there at 3:00pm (LOL).

I tried a new direction today as I've been on this hike several times.  Today, I walked along the road first until the turnoff to go see the sandstone pillar.  After snapping some pictures of that, I went straight across the road to the trail to the white bluffs.  The trail takes you on the middle bluff with a view to the North of the White Bluffs and a view to the south of the river and Hanford area.

To me, this is an easy way to make the loop because getting to the top of the middle bluff is a decent workout if you go that way first but going down the round and back along the middle bluff isn't as bad.

I saw no wildlife besides waterfowl today and one one species of a small wildflower so far. The bugs were somewhat a nuisance but not too bad.

The road to get there was not bad at all, hardly any wash boarding.

Also, there is a bathroom as soon as you turn onto Ringgold River Rd.  You take a left down towards the river (after the canal, not before) and follow the gravel road a few hundred yards and there is a vault toilet.

The old Hanford High School.
