Went Bellingham today for a relative’s visit and we just had to get out and catch some of this great weather. We chose Lake Padden and it was crowded as expected. Luckily one car was leaving when we pulled in otherwise all lots were jammed. We made a 4 mile route around Lake Padden and up to the Galbraith Th and back. Everyone was out enjoying this early spring weather. Around the lake you didn’t go more than 50 yards without encountering bikers, dog walkers, runners, families and baby strollers. The entire trail is hard packed crushed gravel. The trail up to Galbraith was mostly bikers. We saw ducks, robins, juncos, wrens and crows. Early spring blooms included Indian Plum, Skunk Cabbage, Oregon Grape and Salmon Berry. Many flowering fruit trees were also in bloom. Kayakers, stand up paddle boards and a few daring souls took a dip in the lake.
